The winner of the Rob Cartwright Trophy for 2013 is announced:
Congratulations to Matt Barton the 2013 winner and all the nominees for the trophy!! We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you on the water in 2014!
This is why Matt was nominated for the award:
“Matt Barton started on techno much later than some of our youngsters and he missed out on getting into NJS probably due to his later start. He absolutely loves windsurfing and he kept persevering and travelled to San Fran independently to attend the 7.8 techno worlds. Following this he made it into transitional and then RSX youth squad. Although he has a competitive spirit, he manages to enjoy fantastic relationships with the others and is always there to help out new people moving up to RSX or techno (he is now also a Race Coach Level 2). He encourages and always compliments people on their technique, their wins, even if when it was at the cost of his own ranking. He is a very worthy example of true Sportsmanship, gracious in defeat and shows humility when he wins.”
