Team15 (T15) windsurfers Charlotte Seal (13) and Jordan Howram (12) will be passing their skills on to fellow teammates having been appointed as RYA T15 Ambassadors.
Both members of the North Lincs Invaders, Charlotte and Jordan were presented their T15 Ambassadors rash vests and certificates by Bic Techno 6.8 World and European Champion 2009, Kieran Martin, at a training session at Clowbridge Reservoir on 07 March.
As successful Ambassadors they will now help to develop their Team15 club by promoting Team15, the RYA pathway and zone squad programme to other young sailors and will represent the RYA at Team15 inter-club events. They will also become a point of contact for other young sailors who may need advice about how to move forward with their windsurfing.
Charlotte who lives in Messingham says: “To become an Ambassador is fantastic and I look forward to helping other young windsurfers with their development.
Jordan explains: “To be chosen as an ambassador for T15 is a great pleasure as I can provide my fellow windsurfers with the help and advice at the Team15 level which I was given and help them to move forward into the Zone Squad level.”
RYA North and West Zone Head Coach, Ian Roberts says: “It’s great to see the likes of Charlotte and Jordan offering their support to other young windsurfers and they really can make a difference.”
Supported by industry leaders Neilson, Tushingham/Starboard, Windsurf magazine, BOARDS magazine and Neil Pryde, T15 was set up by the RYA to help make windsurfing more accessible and appealing to youngsters at a grass roots level. Fun and informal training sessions take place at T15 clubs all over the country for kids up to the age of 15, which are run weekly by specialist RYA coaches. The T15 inter-club championship takes place regionally over the summer adding a competitive edge and race training for those keen to hone their skills. Kit can be borrowed from the clubs and the cost of sessions is kept low – to find out how to get involved and your local club visit www.team15.org.uk or contact the RYA 0845 345 0400.
