Greek Myths vanish as Summer approaches

The scaremongering newspaper travel section headlines of recent months proclaiming turmoil in the Greek holiday market have finally vanished in a puff of hyperbole. The European Central Bank has sorted things out with the Greek Government and all is (relatively) calm again. In fact, there was never any real worry in the travel industry. All of the big noise was being made in Athens (Both politicians & protesters!), places like Vassiliki live in a bit of a bubble, supported by non-Greek tourist money.

If anything, bookings for this summer are turning out to be stronger than last. Ocean Elements MD James Hardiman reported that “The Greek ‘Crisis’ seems to have made little or no impact on our customers; both new and repeat bookings are up on this time last year.” The activity sports specialist has greatly expanded their Vassiliki programme to include the likes of Masterclasses by K787 Jamie Drummond, bespoke Private Tuition, the Youth Squad and even RYA Level 2 Powerboating courses (perfect for prospective Safety Boat drivers!).
