Oxbow Ride the Sky presented by Naish ends its one-month holding period on Saturday, April 30. Contest directors were hoping to run this world-class windsurfing event in April, but contestable wind and wave conditions failed to materialise for the single day of competition.
The goal of Oxbow Ride the Sky presented by Naish was to take the sport of windsurfing to world-record breaking heights. It began its one-month holding period begins on April 1.
Twenty world-class windsurfers were invited to compete for highest air, best trick and worst wipeout. The highest air was to be awarded a $100 per foot, $2,500 will go to best trick winner and the rider’s weight in beer for the best wipeout.
Although April 2011 didn’t offer contestable conditions, Oxbow Ride the Sky officials are promising to double the prize money for next year’s event.
