We made a bit of a boo-boo in the F2 Missile write-up in our speed board test (BOARDS May 2007). The Missile comes with “blanking plates” which can be fitted over the tail cut-outs. We assumed that these were supposed to improve light wind performance, and were thus fairly rude about them in our write-up, as they just seemed to cause extra drag. However, in actual fact they’re intended for quite the opposite function; to improve control in really overpowered conditions. We didn’t get test to this out, but it would seem a safe assumption that they would indeed achieve this aim, so our humble apologies to F2 for making such an erroneous assumption!
