Whilst down in the south we are looking forward to NWF in a few short weeks time, up in Scotland their very own Scottish Windfest will take centre stage. Taking place on 13th – 15th September up in Troon, Scottish Windfest will combine a mix of watersports for all ages on a fantastic beach, with an even better atmosphere.
As we look ahead to the 2013 event we thought it a great time to look back at exactly why the event is so great with some stats and feedback from 2012 attendees:
The biggest ever Windfest took place in 2012 with the site taking over the whole of Barassie Beach with:
- 90 participants registered aged from the under 10’s to the over 65’s
- A designated camping area that extended three times to accommodate people travelling from across the whole of the UK to join us
- Over 9000 spectators through the site enjoying the family friendly atmosphere, carnival rides and attractions, hot food stalls and the fully serviced bar in the all-weather event marquees
- Working in partnership with the British Kitesurfing Association to host national leg of professional freestyle competition under the banner of the Windfest for the first time
- Trade and industry demonstrations, presentations and workshops from major brands showcasing the latest kit and technologies
- 1000+ hours of unpaid volunteer work to make the event a reality
