The Weymouth Speed Week team have released details about two exciting speed events right here in the UK: Southend Speed Weekend and Weymouth Trials.

Southend Speed Weekend

Last year the first Southend Speed Weekend was organised by Steve Davison. This turned out to be a fantastic event with excellent conditions enabling four competitors to exceed 40kt over 500m. The fastest speed was 43.7kt – so it is a good venue! This year Steve is hoping to run the event again, but needs to know who intends to come. Three dates have been chosen that don’t conflict with other UK events and for which the tides will be favourable. The date chosen will be on a rollover basis depending on the forecast and wil be confirmed several days before the event.

The three weekends on which the event may take place are:

28/29 March

9/10 May

23/24 May

Weymouth Trials Week

Our annual “trials” week will be taking place in May starting on Monday the 11th. This is the opportunity to get your boats and boards out and join like minded folk for a few days of relaxed sailing and testing in Portland Harbour. We will have support boats available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when we will be able to set up a course.
