Starboard celebrate Sylvain Moussilmani and Alice Arutkin as 2010 IFCA Slalom World Champions…
29 year-old Frenchman Sylvain Moussilmani (Starboard, Simmer) holds a solid 7th position in the Overall PWA slalom, but excelled in the IFCA slalom ranking this year. While the last event started inauspiciously for Sylvain, with Brazilian Gabriel Browne (Starboard) taking the first bullet of the competition and Frenchman Julien Quentel (RRD, Neilpryde) taking second, the rest of the event in Flecheiras looked very different. Sylvain found his form and finished the competition on day five clear by 3.4 points. Julien took silver on the podium and Steve Allen (Starboard, Severne) took the bronze position.
And while Sylvain secured his top position at the end of the season, 18-year old sailor Alice Arutkin (Starboard, North Sails), has won every round on the IFCA tour so far, making her the new 2010 IFCA Slalom World Champion even before the event ended. Unlike the men’s division, where competition was a lot closer, Alice Arutkin dominated the ladies division with superior sailing.
