A man of many talents and well-known face in the windsurfing industry, Fred Willis is taking part in the London Marathon this year in honour of his father, who recently sadly passed away.
Fred is raising money for the RAF Benevolent Fund and any support for the cause would be massively appreciated, click here to donate. More details on the race, Fred’s cause and donating can be found below:
As many of you will have had heard by now, Fred’s dad, Gerry Willis, sadly passed away on 29th March after what can only be described as a very full and happy life. Those of you who, like me, had the pleasure of meeting Gerry will easily attest to his character and understand the sense of loss felt by Fred, Katy, Tilda and Fred’s mum Anne, at the passing of a great man. Amongst Gerry’s many achievements were a very successful and very interesting career flying in the RAF and his military service was something he loved and was very proud of. Fred would like to honour that history with your help.
Fred’s latest foray into the world of endurance sports will be to participate in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday 13th April. Although Fred has already been training hard for many months, in light of recent events he has decided to dedicate this year’s run to his dad’s memory and try to raise some money for the RAF Benevolent fund in honour of the service which was such a huge part of Gerry’s life.
To tell you more, here’s a few words from Fred himself and the link below will tell you a little more about Gerry:
“I’m raising funds for The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund on JustGiving, and I’d really appreciate your support.
You can make a donation via my page: “http://www.justgiving.com/Fred-WillisRAF“. It’s easy, fast and totally secure.
JustGiving sends our donation straight to The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and, if you’re a UK tax payer, automatically reclaims Gift Aid on The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund’s behalf, making your donation go further. What’s more, JustGiving will never spam or sell your details.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund in memory of Squadron Leader Gerry Willis – my Dad.”
Any support – whether it be pennies, pounds or just kind and encouraging words – will be gratefully received and will help Fred both honour his father and give something back to all those, serving and retired, from the RAF who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our skies and shores.
Please pass this on to anyone who knows Fred and the Willis family and feel free to share on Facebook as you see fit.
Kind regards
