Message from Swifty

More info from Swifty about his horrific injury, wishing him a very speedy recovery…

“I flew back to England today and have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow morning.

“I’m really gutted as I was more prepared this year than ever for Pozo. I really felt that I could be on the podium at the end of the event and was having so much fun sailing there last night.

“I did a 1 foot backloop and saw that I was going to crash so I tried to throw the gear away but my back foot got stuck in the strap and I fell down onto the sail with my other foot over the mast and all my body weight squashed my leg into the mast.

“Anyway, hopefully tomorrow they will give me my prognosis and I will let you know what they say. From the x rays in the Canaries looks like a cracked ankle bone and cracked tibia.

“All the best”

Just days after you voted Swifty most likely to finish top Brit in Pozo, Swift has unfortunately injured himself training in Pozo. The rumour mill started last night that there had been an injury, potentially a broken leg, but nothing was confirmed. This morning Swift himself has posted on Facebook, confirming the rumour and that he will now fly to the UK for surgery.

Swift has broken his leg/ankle in three places. He went for a high one footed back loop, but caught a gust at the top and crashed.

We hope to hear more from Swift soon, but more importantly Boards’ wish Swift a very speedy recovery.

Gutted to see another one of the top Brits out so close to the competition. With Horrocks at home awaiting fatherhood and Williams now deciding to attend a formula race event, the Brits are dropping like flies! No pressure on the riders left at all…
