As Tabou and Gaastra reveal their international sailors for 2012, we take a look at the British sailors who wil be forming the backbone of the team.
We have three British sailors flying the flag on the international team and they are all competing in the wave discipline with Ross Williams also competing in slalom. They will be joined by the ever stylish Thomas Traversa and hard-charging Alex Mussolini.
Starting off with Jamie Hancock – the PWA Rookie of the Year 2010. A lighter sailor often seen on the smallest of gear, Jamie was UK wave champion in 2009 but has focused his energies more on the world tour in the last couple of years – finishing the 2011 season in an impressive 16th.
Phil Horrocks is another sailor flying the flag for Tabou and Gaastra. After a recent switch from JP, he is already ripping on his new boards, as documented on his website. Always an impressive jumper, Phil finished the PWA tour in 15th place this year – including an outstanding 9th place at Klitmøller. He is sure to improve on this great result next year.
Ross Williams is often known primarily for his impressive skills on the racecourse, but he was actually the UK’s highest ranked competitor in 2011, wrapping the season up in an incredible 10th place. For 2012 Ross will continue to challenge the elite in waves and break into the top 10 in the slalom rankings.
