2010 Tushingham X-15 wins NZ National Slalom Championship on competition debut.
Talented New Zealand racer Gareth Wood only took delivery of his new 2010 quiver of X-15 sails a matter of days before the national championships, which were held between 4th and 7th February. Nevertheless, he stormed to victory in a competitive fleet, winning every round with 26 first places out of 26 ahead of James Dinnis (last year’s winner and current US open champion).
Gareth’s victory wasn’t the only success for Tushingham. In the over-50’s British ex-pat Tim Wood piloted his X-15s to victory, taking a commendable 6th place overall. There was a further podium finish for Tushingham in the women’s division, where Sue Bradley took second place riding Lightning and Storm sails.
