Thailand, Phuket. Long sandy white beaches, palm trees, crystal clear water and a 15-knot breeze. In other words, racing in paradise! From November 29th to December 6th 2013, Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand will host the 2013 Phuket King’s Cup Regatta to honor His Majesty the King of Thailand’s birthday. And December 4th, 5th and 6th will be dedicated to Phantom 295 windsurfing in collaboration with the Windsurfing Association of Thailand (WATH). There still is time to join! After the successful reintroduction of windsurfing during last year King’s Cup, Starboard and the Windsurfing Association of Thailand are proud to be this year again, part of Asia’s biggest and most popular regatta, organized by Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organising Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.

After registration at the Kata Beach Resort & Spa on Thursday 5th morning, racing will take place in the afternoon with a maximum of three races per day. The following day will also see racing as early as 9:00 AM if conditions allow, with the closing ceremony at 19:00 PM.

All racing will be done on the 40 supplied Phantom 295 packages and governed by ISAF rules. Sail sizes (8.5m² and 7.5m²) will be determined based on the 4 divisions: Open Men, Open Women, Youth Men and Youth Women. To enter, competitors will have to pay a 2,000 THB fee and deposit an additional 5,000 THB which will be refunded once the equipment has been returned at the end of the championships… So the charter rigs are basically available free of charge!
