With temperatures just pushing into double figures and a bit of wind forecast, we look at your options for the weekend and we invite you to leave your comments about your sessions in the section at the bottom of the page…
As the UK winter starts to give way to spring, a low pressure is bringing in some wet and windy weather for most southern regions. With temperatures starting to rise, this is the perfect opportunity to make the most of some moderate winds.
We take a look at a couple of bits of kit that could help you make the most of this weekend’s forecast…
North X-Type
“The 2012 X-Type once again proves that sails without cambers can still be real performance engines. The secret is the reduced aspect ratio, plus the relatively high sail foil tension, guaranteeing maximum performance even without cambers.”
Fitting into the range between the S-Type Freerace sail and the Natural crossover sail, the X-Type is a no-cam freeride designed to give the great power and performance of a twin-cam sail whilst maintaining the easy going nature and quick rigging of a crossover.
Available in 5.4 to 8.2, the X-Type utilises North’s ‘Minimum Mast Concept’, allowing you to rig all sizes on a 460 mast!
Starboard Carve
“The Carves are always easy to tune and ride. They deliver their best performance, all the time. Exciting, fun and light, they always remain controllable, comfortable and forgiving: they are the plug and play freeriders. “
The perfect tool for some lighter wind freeriding, the Carve is billed as the ultimate in plug and play freeride. Simply step on and go! Capable of handling larger sails and much faster than the previous generations of Carve, the 2012 edition has something for everyone; great speed, ultimate comfort and control and a big wind range.
So, whatever gear you use to get on the water this weekend, don’t forget to give these a thought!
