Lyricist In The House
Racer turned MC, Ruben Petrisie, looks to become the first rap star born out of windsurfing.
Raised on the Island of Bonaire, Ruben Petrisie (Exocet / Loft Sails) is famed for his contorted freestyle moves and blistering pace around a race course, as opposed to being a rising star within the music industry.
However, this might all be about to change. Ruben is the gifted product of a musical lineage that can be traced back through his ancestors. His father is a talented song writer and guitarist, his mother sang gospel core, his brothers play the drums and bass guitar, and his sisters are singers too. Music is literally in Petrisie’s blood, so it comes as no surprise to find that he’s a talented MC.
A relatively recent phenomenon, Petrisie only started rapping in 2007 when he met rapper Tetik, and in turn was introduced to Base Mode records. A year on, and Petrisie has now recorded a number of tracks he describes as a fusion of hip-hop and funk.
We wish the best of luck to Ruben on his musical crusade, and suggest everyone checks out his beats at http://www.myspace.com/rubenbang or listen to the MP3 below.
