UKWA 2009 Wave Events  

The first two events of the UKWA Wave tour can be announced.

Wave Round 1: Brandon Bay, hosted by Jamie Knox Watersports
Wednesday 6^th to Sunday 10^th May 2009

Jamie Knox has called these dates using his Crystal Tide/Weather ball and so far his events have never failed to give awesome down-the-line conditions! The ferries should be fairly cheap again this year with a competitors deal although I will confirm that in the New Year. The Swansea-Cork ferry is still not operating so it’s Fishguard or Holyhead for the trip across.

You can also fly with Ryan Air from London Stansted, Luton or Manchester and rent a car at Kerry which is less than an hour from Brandon Bay.  At the moment flights to Kerry for May 2009 are £54 return with Ryan Air. Sports equipment goes at £25 per bag (as of Dec08).

So get that week off work and join us in Ireland – it’s always a cracking event!

Wave Round 2: Rhosneigr, hosted by Funsport.
Friday 15^th to Sunday 17^th May (Friday Pros only)

The Rhosneigr event will be run alongside the JP/Neil Pryde Slalom event held over the same weekend so if the waves don’t show, pack your slalom kit.

There will be, as always, legendary entertainment including  a night of skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing at Llandudno Ski Slope courtesy of Nigel Treacy, a ‘team meal’ at Rhosneigr followed by some Bangor student night life for those who aren’t in the first heat the next morning!

Finally, the Tiree Wave Classic is looking like a certainty this year and will be around the same time in October. I hope to confirm this in the New Year as well as the fourth event.
