“The Hayling Slalom series kicked off in style last night with SW winds from 15-25knts. Kit ranged from freestyle waves to Starboard Isonics and 5.3 wave sails to 7.5 race sails (courtesy of Dan Macaulay!). The simple format of a beach start, gybe round the outer buoy and back to the beach saw some incredibly fast speeds obtained by all and some close racing and spectacular dismounts – Dave Dobrijevic from Dynamic sails hit the beach at 30knts, maybe he was practicing for the upcoming national windsurfing festival!
The prize of the evening – a stylish Ion cap – went to Steve Roberts for his tremendous speed on his FSW 105 and 5.3 wave sail. He even managed to beat Paul Griffiths on his borrowed Isonic and 7.5 to the outside buoy on the downwind leg in race 1, although Paul did get his lead back in the end!
So roll on next week…” Lou Mason

Racing is usually on a Tuesday evening but a keen bunch of locals are happy to roll it over to the next best forecast if there is one. This week there was a healthy turn out on the Tuesday but due to the lack of wind everyone agreed they would return the following day!
