Bumper Band Billing for Eastbourne Extreme

Get set for a thrilling weekend on the south coast as intense sports take over Eastbourne seafront for its annual free Extreme event with a packed band line-up providing the ultimate soundtrack.

This weekend will see Eastbourne Extreme fill the resort’s eastern seafront with a jam-packed programme of outdoor pursuits on land, water and in the air including windsurfing, kitesurfing, powerboat racing, parkour, skating and more. The return of the Extreme stage will provide non-stop music all day with local bands set to entertain visitors as they enjoy daredevil stunts, demonstrations and exhibitions from professional adrenaline-junkies.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Susan Morris said “Wow, I can’t wait for Eastbourne Extreme this weekend; the line-up is looking fantastic with plenty of action over both days. Free to visitors, the event always attracts a strong crowd and with the chance to watch demonstrations from the experts as well as take taster lessons, all from the beautiful setting of Eastbourne seafront, the event makes a great excuse for a weekend getaway.”

This year sees more live music at Extreme than ever before, with 14 bands set to fill the stage over the two days. Visitors can look forward to hearing live sets from local bands including the popular To the Moon Alice, Starski, Dusty Rosko and Troy Tempest. Plus Hijack the Radio and City of Ashes will be supporting the Parkour demonstration by the Urban Shadows.

The action at Extreme 2009 goes on into the evening too with a prom-based Night Skate starting at 6.30pm on Saturday 18 July, with Eastbourne Skaters Association set to lead the way along the promenade.

With the VW Bus Stop rolling into town on Sunday 19 July, visitors can look forward to a Volkswagen spectacular as classic Campers, Beach Buggies and Beetles pull up onto the beach as part of their annual Show and Shine Competition.

Set on the seafront with the beach providing the perfect setting to sit back, chill and enjoy the action, visitors can soak in a real surf vibe in 2009 as the country’s first ION Man windsurfing contest also takes place.

Eastbourne Extreme kicks off at 11am on Saturday and Sunday 18-19 July and is free to visitors. Displays will take place along the eastern seafront opposite Princes Park.
