The Robert Cartwright Trophy is awarded to an exceptional young windsurfer, that shows passion and commitment to the sport. Nominations are now open and below we have a short statement from Jules Smyth of the RYA.
Bob Ingram said: Personally I had the absolute pleasure to know Robert and his family as they grew up and this trophy represents all that is good in the memory of Robert and indeed his father. In these times when we all take so much for granted we would do well to reflect for a moment on how lucky we are to enjoy this sport we all love as Robert did and further more to race hard, play hard but to always do it with a smile on your face.
Please see attached the Robert Cartwright Trophy poster and nomination form, which explain the purpose and the history of the trophy.
Please can you print off the poster and put it up in your club/event notice board or registration table where your sailors will see it, so as to spread the word throughout the windsurfing community. The nomination form is designed as a booklet, so that you can also print these off.
Nominations are invited from sailors, parents, volunteers and particularly encouraged by Coaches and T15 Competition Organisers, for sailors who, in their opinion, have demonstrated throughout the season, the core values that the trophy represents.
The trophy will be awarded at the RYA/ UKWA Youth & Masters Championships (6th/7th October) in Weymouth on Sunday 7th where the person you are nominating must be in attendance. Nominations are to be returned to either myself or Bob Ingram by the dates specified within the booklet.
We look forward to receiving your nominations.
