OLYMPIC PENTATHLETE RETURNS AS PATRON OF POOLE AUDI HEX-TREME

World-class British athlete, Kate Allenby, will be returning as Patron and
commentator at Poole Audi Hex-treme, the unique six event multi-sport competition,
on Sunday 7th September.

Kate has competed at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships since 1995 and
has recently qualified to take part in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. During her
Olympic career Kate has been awarded 10 bronze medals as an athlete and her
major results include 1997 European champion, 1998 World Cup champion and also
gaining Olympic and World Champion bronze medals as a pentathlete.

In 2002, Kate was awarded the position of Patron of Poole Audi Hex-treme following
the success and popularity of the previous two years event and will be commentating
on the sporting action of 45 of the UK’s top athletes this year, which includes
a separately scored women’s race for 15 women. Competitors will gain aggregate
scores across the event’s six disciplines – sailing, kayaking, windsurfing,
swimming, cycling, and running, at this Poole Tourism and Kate will inform spectators
of their progress throughout the day.

Kate says; "I was thrilled to have been asked to become Patron of Poole
Audi Hex-treme last year. I competed in this competition when it launched in
2001 and thoroughly enjoyed the six disciplines. It’s a great event that combines
a variety of skills and you find that the overall winner is a true all rounder.
The standard of competitors is exceptionally high this year and it will be exciting
for me to commentate and watch competitors take up the challenge to become the
2003 Poole Audi Hex-treme champion!"
