. Rhys sailed to a decisive victory on Saturday 1st September at St Mary’s Loch in the Scottish Borders. Rhys who lives in Kincraig and attends Alvie Primary School, is also the youngest compretative member of the grand slam winning Loch Insh Monsters. The recently formed “Monsters”, is the only RYA accredited windsurfing team in the Scottish Highland. Only last week at Monikie Country Park near Dundee they secured their fourth consecutive win to become Scottish Champions. This win qualifies them to take part in the British RYA Team 15 British Championships to be held at Rutland Water on the 6th & 7th October. Pictured above is Rhys receiving his Champions Cup from RYA Scottish Co-ordinator Robin Nicol. Robin has praised the performance of the “Monsters” and their first Scottish Champion. Their success is in no small part down to their brilliant coach, Jonny Freshwater of Loch Insh Watersports.
The Championship results were:
1st RHYS CORNFIELD – Loch Insh (3.5m sail); DAVID TAYLOR – Loch Insh (4.5m sail); CALUM KERR – Clyde (4.,5 m sail)
