‘Six of the Best’ from KEITH ATKINSON
Point-7 and Starboard International windsurfing team rider Keith Atkinson was back in top form over the weekend at Rutland Water. The reigning Formula and seven times British Champion was in action in the UKWA’s final Inland series event for 2007.
Keith sustained a back injury in the UKWA National event held at Tenby earlier in the season, causing him to withdraw from the event. The injury seriously affected his performance at both the subsequent Eastbourne and Derwent Water National events held in July. However following expert treatment from his sports physio and on the water training at Lake Garda in Italy last week he was again ready for action.
After sitting out some very light winds on day one he put on a spectacular performance for spectators on the second day of the two day event.
There was a strong fleet entered for the event, including Keith’s rival for the 2007 championship title Alan Jackson, who was keen to gain points having travelled down from Scotland. However he had to concede he was no match for the speed of Keith who dominated all six Formula races with a comfortable lead.
This coming weekend is the final event in the UKWA National Formula Championship series at Clacton, very close to Keith’s new home stretch of water at Felixstowe where he now trains.
Keith Atkinson would like to thank all his sponsors including, Point7, Starboard, Next Generation, Marlow, Dakine, Physioactive, for their valued support.
