19 Questions and 1 Bad Joke with Morgan Noireaux

Last week Boards caught up with AWT tour leader Kevin Pritchard, and asked him 20 revealing questions, now we ask same questions to the young rider hot on his heels – Morgan Noireaux.

1. What has been your biggest accomplishment as an athlete?

Winning my first event in Baja felt really good. We had some good waves and I finally proved to myself that I could win. It was a big confidence booster.

2. What has been your greatest disappointment as an athlete?

Hurting my foot right after beating Brawzinho in last years Aloha classic was a bummer. I was feeling great after beating him and I’m sure I could have kept going. But unfortunately it was not to be… Just have to better this year.

3. Who is your hero, and why?

I don’t think I have a “hero.” I admire a lot of people and the things they’ve done but I don’t have one person in particular that has had a bigger impact on me than anyone else.

4. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Haha, I have a few cringe inducing moments that I won’t be talking about.

5. What other sport would you like to compete in?

If I didn’t windsurf I would have loved to do the whole surfing thing. I started surfing super young and learned to surf with people who are now incredible surfers. I think it would be cool to see how good I’d be if my life hadn’t been engulfed by windsurfing.

6. If you could ask God one question, what would it be?

I’m not religious, but if could ask god a question and get a response I guess I’d have to change my views, or check myself into the hospital for hearing voices. But anyway I’d ask him what religion has it right, if any.

7. If you could change one rule about windsurfing competition, what would it be?

I feel like most of the rules are alright. I’d maybe make the heats longer.

8. What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?

I’d tell myself to go convince whomever I was sponsored by at the time to start making a three batten sail.

9. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

I’m sure I’ve received some great compliments but none that I can really recall. The other day someone did compliment my hair though…

10. What is the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

I’ve been pressured into doing some pretty scary stuff mountain biking. It’d be very easy for some people but as someone who has zero air awareness on a bike it was scary as hell, so I was pretty happy to have gone for it.

11. What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

I saw Levi do a sick 360 off a sketchy section the other day. As usual he made it look way too easy.

12.What is the worst thing anyone has ever said to you?

Don’t remember, but recently some guy surfing threatened to choke me out. Angry surfers always have the nicest things to say.

13.Who would play you in the film of your life?

I’d play myself and have it narrated by Morgan Freeman.

14.Who is the worst person to windsurf a heat against?

It depends on the conditions. I can imagine coming up against Phillip in onshore stuff would suck. At Hookipa I’d have to say Bernd or Levi.

15. Make us laugh…

I’ve been trying to come up with a joke for Kevin’s name and the result is pretty terrible. My only consolation is that KP’s was no better. What windsurfer would you want to play baseball with? Kevin Pitch-Hard. HAHA.

16.Which one possession could you not live without?

Car. Not having a car on Maui is a pretty big handicap.

17.Which one person could you not live without?

I’ll break the rules and choose both my parents.

18. What is the current most played song on your iPod?

Hmm, not sure. Probably a song from Queens of the Stone Age.

19. What makes you unhappy?

Lack of waves. There are other things to do but if I can’t ride a wave with some type of craft for a while I get antsy.

20. Who do you need to say sorry to, and why?

To my cat, for calling him fat.
