Remember there are no (or very little, if you go for campsites requiring payment) accommodation or excess baggage charges to consider. Minimise your costs by:

Using your UK credit card rather than debit card for more competitive exchange rates.

Minimal use of plastic as you get hit by a fee in most European banks.

In France avoid fuel on the motorways, head to the supermarkets for up to a 10 cent/litre saving.

Turn off the roaming on your mobile – in fact turn it off completely to get the best adventure atmosphere!

Buy a 12v car shower and 25 litre water container – keep the shower topped up at services and you can have a shower most days.
