“ Bjorn Dunkerbeck wearing a helmet this year. He is using an asymmetric boom and puts his weight and strength to great effect. When you watch Bjorn sailing, he is extremely good at keeping everything locked in and stable. Better than anyone I would say. He just doesn’t get buffeted like others do. His kit just doesn’t move! I think Bjorn is on a slightly smaller sail (a 5.6) against Anders and Antoine on 5.8s, so was perhaps a little less powered in the lighter conditions of this year. I think you can see to some extent that the active slalom guys are running higher booms and Bjorn has what I would describe as a medium boom height. As the wind gets stronger, Bjorn gets more competitive. I wouldn’t take his speed from this year as any benchmark of where he is in the pecking order when it’s windier. He knows he has got it in him, he just needs more wind.“
