“I think a lot of people turned up this year with high GPS speeds and expected to run down the course at 50 odd knots. But when you looked at the results, it was pretty much the same top 10 guys at the front as the previous year, with just one exception: Hans Kreisel. He does a lot of sparring with another Dutch guy Jacques Van der Hout and I think he has built a lot of confidence. Unlike anyone else, he is on a waist harness and very short lines. He is very tall, 6’5- 6’6, and again with a very low boom. You can see it’s at the bottom of the cut out. His lines are like kiddy lines they are so short, but he keeps very low and is very good at sailing with the handbrake off. Most guys are using 30 or 32-inch lines, but I think Kreisel’s will be around 24. He’s young and knocking on the door; perhaps he will start to worry those big hitters.”
