“Bearing off around the top of the course. It’s not particularly shallow, only against the far bank, but getting maximum pace around that corner is really important to the rest of your run and actually quite difficult. You are accelerating from around 35/36 knots to mid 40s within about one second at this point. It’s also a lot windier on that corner and using that wind to slingshot your acceleration is quite a technique in itself. You have to keep the power on to get yourself onto the top of the course at full speed.”
