I live in Newgale, West Wales and use the following sites to help suss out the forecast: Big Salty, XC Weather, Magic Seaweed, Windguru and wave buoy sites.
I use all of them and go for the combined opinion! For swell I find the wave bouys really useful i.e. after a good session with good waves, you can find out what size/direction swell was working at a beach and then when you see something similar on a forecast you will have a better idea what the waves will be like at that spot.
