WIND, WATER AND SURF BOOT FEST AT CHRISTCHURCH BOARDSAILING CLUB
SUNDAY 19 DECEMBER 2004 10am TO 3pm

PREPARE YOUR KIT FOR WIND, TALK WINDSURFING WHILE YOU CARE FOR YOUR LOVED ONES AND MAKE/SAVE MONEY – Now that’s what we call a good formula on a windless day in December.

The boys and girls of Christchurch Boardsailing Club were looking at their Clubhouse, with substantial lawn by the sea, they considered the ample parking, hoards of local sailors and local watersports shops and they considered what to do on a windless December Day…

“Well”, said one bright spark, “why don’t we invite the local watersports shops to offer all their discounted gear on our lawn, we could invite local sailors to bring along their secondhand kit and ask local schools, trainers and clubs to join us”?

Another asked, “do you mean?”, “Yes” said the bright spark, “We will organise the FIRST WIND, WATER AND SURF BOOT FEST here in Christchurch, at our Club and if it’s successful, we can run it every two or three months”.

And so it was that the CBSC Wind, Water and Surf Boot Fest was announced and windsurfers were invited to join in, talk windsurfing, re-live windsurfing and dream windsurfing on that day.

“What if it’s windy?” asked the other. “Dah”, said the bright spark,” is our club not right by the sea with perfect, grassy rigging and launching facilities, with flat water or wave sailing conditions, ideal in any wind from Easterly through to Westerly”
