CHRISTINE BEATS OLYMPIC CHAMP TO WIN FRENCH NATIONALS


Christine Johnston of Brighton, UK, won the Formula Windsurfing French
National Championships that took place last week in Bordeaux.


This was Christine’s first competition since being invited back onto the
Royal Yachting Association lottery funded World Class Performance program
to train for the 2008 Olympics.


Christine lead the event from day 2 to the finish, with four race wins and
several second places putting her safely in the lead after 10 races. In
second place finished French Olympic gold medallist from Athens Faustine
Merret, taking part in one of her first events on Formula equipment, and
in third Bryony Shaw also British.


The arrival of the new RS-X Olympic equipment is expected in May.
Christine will be competing in Formula and RS-X event during 2005.
