Today saw the first heats of the pro kids competition. Bonaire organizes the first ever windsurfing world championships especially for kids, under the Irie guidance of action-man Brian Talma (KBA-8, Starboard). Future PWA stars such as Kai Lenny (KAI-1111, Naish/ Naish) Connor Baxter (CON-333, Starboard/ North) and local hope Kiri Thode (NB-61, Starboard/ Gaastra) showed off their impressive skills. Look out Ricardo Campello, because when these kids grow up there will be no limit to what they can do.
As winds were still too light to allow any official competition, Germany’s Andre Paskowski (G-2, F2/ North) talked about his preparation for the King of the Caribbean event and his view on the 2005 PWA freestyle season. The interview can be found in the day 4 news section.
Two more days to go here on the tropical island of Bonaire. Stay tuned to www.pwaworldtour.com this weekend to see if the winds return to bring forward an official winner of the 2005 King of the Caribbean crown.
