Fuerteventura ISA Speedsurfing Grand Prix 2005 – Preview


The second stop of the ISA Speedsurfing Grand Prix Tour starts end of next week on the island of Fuerteventura. The biggest windsurfing event of the world will see the fastest men and women on the water competing for important points for the annual ranking list and heading for the world championship title. Two complete fleets with 64 competitors each have already registered to take part in this event. Representing 22 nations from 6 continents the starting field will make this event the biggest and most important speedsurfing competition ever.


Alongside the 13-times world champion Bjorn Dunkerbeck and World Record Holder Finian Maynard, the top 4 riders from the PWA ranking list, namely Antoine Albeau, Steve Allen, Kevin Pritchard and Micah Buzianis also take part to face the speed specialists. On the womens side, World Record Holder Karin Jaggi will face top names as Allison Shreeve, Britt Dunkerbeck and Valerie Ghibaudo.


The recently introduced 250 meter course brings the action directly to the spectators in front of the Rene Egli Pro Center I on the beautiful beach of Sotavento. A second 500 meter course is set further downwards and will be used in world record breaking conditions.


The IFCA Slalom worlds, which will be held at the same time at Sotavento beach will bring additional accents to the public to ensure high level sporting action the during the whole day.
