2006 Hawaii Pro postponed
Due to the requirements of the major sponsors that we are working with, the 2006 PWA Hawaii Pro will now take place later in the year. The event, which showcases the greatest wave sailing talent in some of the best conditions on earth, is traditionally the opening salvo of the battle for the PWA Wave Championship. However, in order to correctly integrate the event with the marketing needs of its sponsors, the contest will now be rescheduled to a date later in 2006.
PWA Chairman Jimmy Diaz: “I am sure both the fans and the sailors will be disappointed that they will now have to wait to see the best of the best at Hookipa. Nevertheless, we are confident that the lead time we have gained through the postponement will ensure we can put together a world class event that will be a critical component of this year’s Wave Championship and a great success for our sponsors and for windsurfing as a whole.”
Previous winners have included some of the biggest names in wave sailing such as Jason Polakow (Neil Pryde, JP), Josh Angulo and Daida Moreno (North Sails, Mistral). Despite the postponement, the 2006 Hawaii Pro is expected to be the most prestigious event on the PWA Wave circuit.
