UKWA Four Nations Cup, Second Round, Rhosneigr
Hosted and supported by Funsport 11th – 13th May
This weekend sees the UKWA Freewave Circus roll into the windsurfing hotspot of Rhosneigr in North Wales. With a promising forecast it is set to be a great event. The event is open to all comers with fleets for Amateurs, Ladies, Youths, Juniors, Masters, Pros and pretty much any other category you can come up with. You don’t have to be Kauli Seadi to enter. Pros compete on Friday with Saturday and Sunday giving priority to the other fleets to get on the water first. Lunches and evening entertainment included in entry fee.
The title race in all fleets is hotting up. After Ireland Louise Emery came out on top ahead of Simon Crowther so you can be sure Si will be eager to come back all guns blazing. Junior fleet sailor Tom Knox is currently searching for a lift from the west coast of Ireland to defend his 1st place in the Junior fleet ahead of Aleksy Gayda while Rich Jones has been training hard in an attempt to knock Graham Woods from his 1st place perch. The pro fleet saw some serious competition in Ireland two weeks ago with John Skye taking the honors. Rhosneigr will see Skyeboy absent from the entry list as he will be in Morocco doing another event, which leaves the door open for John Hibbard to take the lead in the rankings. It won’t be easy though as Andy King, Jamie Hancock, etc will be chomping at the bit to take victory. Let us not forget Ben Proffitt who is back to contest fitness after injuring himself in Ireland. Rumor has it that Proffitt and Hibbard are putting in some secret training in Guernsey this week and have been scoring some great conditions.
Registration starts at 9am Saturday 12th at Funsport in Rhosneigr.
