Tom contemplates the enormity of the task before him….
THE WINDSURFING CHALLENGE – SIXTEEN HOURS NON-STOP!
Who I am
I’m Tom farmer: an avid windsurfer on a mission! I’m 17, currently studying towards my A-levels and going to studying architecture at Newcastle Uni. However I’m taking a year out first to do short term mission work and teach windsurfing.
What I’m doing
I will be undertaking a windsurfing challenge to try and raise money for a short term mission trip out to the Dominican Republic. In which i will be assisting in the construction of new homes for children and families working and living on a rubbish dump. I will be working with a UK based charity called Mission Direct who help finance, support and setup projects in some of the poorest parts of the world.
The Challenge
My challenge is to windsurf from Sunrise to Sunset without stopping: …16 hours non-stop windsurfing! I am going to be undertaking the venture in August 2007, and will be sailing off on the first day of good wind and weather.
Sponsorship
I need to raise £800 in sponsorship for the trip of which every single penny will go towards the project in the Dominican Republic. As the entire project is being run by Mission Direct every brick and bag of cement is brought for by your donations.
If you’d like to sponsor me, you can email me at [email protected] and leave a pledge amount, address and contact number.
