“WINDSURF AT WITTERING” A GREAT SUCCESS

Windsurf at Wittering was held again at West Wittering beach over the weekend
29/30 Sept, this time the weather delivered the goods with sun and light winds
on Saturday and Force 5-6 and good swell on Sunday.

Over the two days we had 2200 cars through the gate with 150 windsurfers and
kitesurfers on the water on Sunday.

With
over £100,000 of test gear available from F2, Mistral, Arrows, Neil Pryde,
JP, North, Fanatic, Sailworks, AHD, Gaastra, Tushingham, Starboard, Quattro,
Drops, Hot Sails, RRD and Ezzy suppliers were kept busy over the two days.

Flexifoil, Wipika, Slingshot, Cabrinha and RRD were also at the event and Saturday
saw some pretty impressive kitesurfing from Ben Hambury, Jason Furness and Roger
from RRD.

Saturday nite saw the 2XS Team Whiteboarders party as usual, this was full
on with DJs, and the “Whiteboarders Strawpedo Challenge”, the party
was really packed with around 400 people at the pub.

On Sunday the wind picked up with from an unsual southeasterly direction which
kicked up a good swell at high tide, with so many windsurfers on the water,
the rescue team from West Wittering Windsurfing Club were kept busy Keith Rathbone
and Rob Moss spending nearly 2 hours on the water rescuing windsurfers who were
freesailing and who had broken gear, one sailor was brought in with a broken
ankle.

With the good conditions on Sunday Stu Holland, Jem Hall, Matt Wemms, Dave
White and Dom Yule were looking good on the water. Ben Hambury gave a a full
on display of heavy weather kitesurfing.
