One of the most traditional windsurfing competitions is celebrating its 30 anniversary. Many windsurfing legends have won the unique Engadin surf marathon.


Robby Naish the windsurfing legend won in 1977 – the 1st edition of the engadin surf marathon.


Finian Mynard the fastest windsurfer with his world record of 79.92km/h won the historical marathon competition in 2005.


And this year Björn Dunkerbeck – the most successful windsurfer ever, competes with the sail no  SUI – 11 under the Swiss flag.


The windsurf legend and most successful windsurf athlete is going to compete under the Swiss flag and will be at the start of the Stimorol Engadinwind from the 10th – 12th August 2007.   The world class event is celebrating the 30th engadin surf marathon anniversary..


Björn Dunkerbeck has so far won 35 world champion titles and is 12 times overall world champion. The top athlete is member of the Swiss windsurfing association and starts for the prestigious Engadin surfclub in Silvaplana.


The organising committee expects next to the mega star many top windsurfers from the 30 years history of the engadin surf marathon. They don’t know yet, if Robby Naish is going to find his way to the beautiful engadin. He won the first edition of the traditional engadin surf marathon.


The engadin surf marathon is worldwide one of the most prestigious and oldest tradition competitions, which still takes place every year in Switzerland. During the best years, the marathon had over 500 competitors. The organizers are expecting again hundreds of windsurfers for the 30th anniversary. They created a new attractive course over 42.195 km on the lake of silvaplana. One must wonder how Björn Dunkerbeck is going to compete under the very special wind conditions up in 1800m altitude.


The fastest and most successful windsurf women in the world Karin Jaggi, Switzerland, is also going to be on the start. She has won 14 world champion titles so far.
