Following its spectacular inaugural event last year, which was hailed as the ‘best windsurfing event in 20 years’, the event, run in conjunction with the UK Windsurfing Association (UKWA), has been scaled up to accommodate for the additional numbers and further exciting features added.
Clinics
There will be a comprehensive range of free clinics and training sessions, from a number of the windsurfing greats, including Fat Face Team Riders Simon Bornhoft, John Hibbard and Peter Hart, who will explain everything from getting started through to airborne turns, perfecting race starts and equipment.
What’s new?
Fat Face will be launching its brand new ‘Fat Face Starboard Rio’, which marks the active lifestyle’s break into new territory of producing hardware. It will be the first place in the world where the board will be shown to the public and trialled.

Joining Fat Face will be Tushingham, Starboard, Fanatic, Dakine, Neilpryde, Mistral, Severne Sails, Fibre Masts T1 and RRD. There will also be a presence on site from Grasshopper, the organic porridge producers, already a hit with a number of the windsurfers who ‘live on the stuff!”

A prize specifically for the team event) and 100s more products up for grabs, generously provided by the manufacturers who are sponsoring individual races.
The cost
For competitors the cost is £25. Included in this is a limited edition Fat Face event Rash Vest, food and drink vouchers, a Grasshopper porridge and FREE entrance to the party.
What about the spectators?

Quotes
Last year’s winner and windsurfing legend Nik Baker commented: “It’s the first time many of the sailors had been out on the water in pretty much pitch black ….. might as well shut your eyes trying to find the wind and waves. A very well organised event. It’s been an awesome day for windsurfing.”
Ian Williams, Fat Face events manager commented: “The Fat Face Night Windsurf proved to be one of the most popular events in the racing calendar because complete newcomers were competing against the biggest names in the industry. This was a pretty exciting proposition for people who may only have read about these names and seen their photos in magazines.”
