KONA GOLD CUP 2007

KONA GOLD CUP 2007 : FRANCK DAVID TAKES THE LEAD

After last year’s event in Thailand, France hosted the 2007 Kona Gold Cup at the Neptune Club of La Ciotat. The 50 selected windsurfers from 11 countries gathered on the warm Méditerranean coast for 3 days of on and off water action.

The very versatile Kona One board allowed everybody to be competitive , as the Kona Class rules three different sail sizes of 5.8 , 7.4 or 9.0 sqm depending on each windsurfer body weight. The light wind conditions and “no pumping” class rule made for very tactical races, and the winner after 7 races is French Franck DAVID, former Windsurfing Gold Medallist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, followed by Patrik POLLAK from Slovakia ( 2006 Raceboard World Champion), while third place goes to Frenchman Herve PIEGELIN.

All in all, this La Ciotat event has been a great success for the young and growing Kona International Class.
