End of the Aloha Classic?
Urgent – Please Act Now
The State of Hawaii is proposing a bill that will kill the windsurf business and could shut down sailing from treasured beaches, whether on private or public land…
The past few months have seen the windsurfing industry become a victim of harsh state legislature, which is really putting vital business in windsurfing’s capital, Maui, under severe pressure.
Urgent action is required today to stop the latest plans, which have only suddenly crept into the spotlight at the last minute.
The latest act ‘Prohibits operators of sailboards from approaching within 200 feet of a swimmer or surfer in the ocean.’
As you can imagine this could have disastrous effects and repercussions at our crown jewels such as Ho’okipa and the rest of Maui’s beautiful beaches, and windsurfing spots all over the state. Needless to say this could set a negative precedent for other states too.
