Despite there being no hazards and smooth sand surface, experts only need apply. With a common north-west wind it makes for pretty gnarly conditions. Ideal conditions if you’re skilled with your board, amateurs are best suited for something a little calmer. Keep an eye out for the famous Skerryvore Lighthouse too, which can be seen on clear days.

Despite the conditions once you’re there being ideal, some locations are a little trickier to get to. Being off the beaten track is a major bonus for tranquillity and awesome water sports conditions, but avoid a hectic journey by getting all the gear into a van for easy mobility.
