Irish National Speedsailing Championship
Ireland’s John Kenny has just won the National Speedsailing Championship in windy Dungarvan Waterford.
Kenny, or JK as he’s known to his friends, won the Irish title GPS event despite serious competition from Martin Waldren and multi title holder Oisin Van Gelderen. Winds fluctuated throughout the event and JK’s Starboard and Severne sails setup proved a winning combination.
Dubliner JK has always had the desire for speed, be it on motorbikes or mountain bikes or windsurfing. Kenny’s courage is his secret weapon, and as Ireland’s fastest man at 44 knots achieved earlier this year he wants to challenge the likes of Frenchman Antoine Albeau, windsurfing’s current speed world record holder.
Kenny’s hoping to be a serious contender for the World Production Speedsailing Championships to be held in Dungarvan Ireland in November 2008. On home ground Kenny could be the dark horse among the elite of World Speed Sailing. We wish him the very best of luck.
JK is sponsored by STARBOARD, SEVERNE, O’NEILL and WIND AND WAVE.
