This is a very rare opportunity, a chance for anybody to join PWA stars Skyeboy (four times UK champion) and Nayra Alonso (1^st PWA Waves Sylt) for a coaching week in a world class, consistent, close to home and starboard tack wave location.

There are hundreds of clinics these days but this one’s special. John Skye, despite his many titles, is not just a winning machine. The judges put him on the podium because of his style on the water, riding waves and sixty foot up in the air. And Nayra is known as one of the few PWA women who bring real power into wavesailing. Whether you are a seasoned wavesailor, or just beginning to enjoy your jumps – John and Nayra’s huge experience and down to earth approach will have a dramatic effect on your sailing.

The clinic will cover everything including the mental aspects of getting psyched up and not psyched out, setting up your kit, launching and breaking out through the surf, and wave selection. From there on you choose what comes next. It can be anything from simply improving your basic jumping and riding and gaining confidence in stronger winds, right up to learning extreme moves such as forward, backward or push loops, or even wave 360s, takas and goitas. 

The third star of the clinic is Moulay Bouzerktoun. Some say an average Moulay day is like the best day ever on the South Coast. We like to think of it as Morocco’s Jericoacoara, but a little bit more hard core. It’s certainly a fantastic place to host a clinic, and if you sail anywhere with starboard tack jumping and port tack riding – such as the UK’s South Coast – then this is the only clinic where you can learn in similar conditions to those you actually sail.

The smaller print

This clinic is open to everyone, not just extreme wavesailors. All we ask is that you’re able to waterstart, get round most carve gybes dry and stay upwind on a small board in strong winds.

Moulay Bouzerktoun can get very large waves, but the average size expected for this clinic in May is around 1-1.5 metre or head-high waves. These are a perfect size for improving as they have enough power to make them interesting but they’re not too intimidating. Wind wise May is ideal as it sits comfortably in the windy season but before the extreme windy season when it’s not uncommon to get blown off the water with 3.7s!

The White House is the premier place to stay in Moulay. It’s a restored colonial-style house situated right on the cliff edge with fantastic views of the break from two rooms and from its roof terrace. We’ve booked the whole house for the clinic. Accommodation will be in shared rooms and allocated on a first come first served basis (those who book sooner get the sea views!)
