Great news!!!!
We now have a charity for windsurfers
Yes, Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research is charity number 1128492.
This new charity has been formed to raise cancer awareness amongst windsurfers through education and so promote early diagnosis and healthy lifestyles to reduce the incidence of the disease.
It also aims to improve the understanding of cancer and help increase survival rates by sponsoring specific research projects for the public benefit.
The first major fun event planned by Windsurfing4CancerResearch (W4CR) is called SunriseSunset 2009 and will happen on Sunday 3rd May. It is open to windsurfers, kitesurfers, speedsailors or other sailors.
What did you have planned for that Bank Holiday weekend? Please sign up on the registration page, get sponsored and get on the water. If you raise over £25.00 your name will go in the hat for a FREE PRIZE DRAW.
Prizes are shown on the web site and more donations from sponsor’s welcome.
Sail at your local venue or join Dave White, and many others, at Hayling Island. Dave is fronting an initial plan of David Tuttlebee (a local Hayling windsurfer who has just be diagnosed with cancer for the second time) to be on the water throughout daylight hours. David’s twelve sessions of chemo should end mid April so he intends to also get on the water.
David has received great support from the Weymouth Speed Week team (some are trustees) but also from many other sailors, friends and family. He has remained positive throughout this latest wave of chemotherapy (only 18 months after the last sessions ended) and would be thrilled to see/here of a massive number of sailors getting sponsored and sailing on the 3rd May.
Also, whether you are a beginner, experienced or a pro sailor you will be part of a recorded flotilla on the water that day and a record is to be endorsed by the Guinness Book of Records.
A map is shown on the web sites to indicate where registered sailors intend to sail. Co-ordinators are needed at each location. If can help on the day please let the organisers know.
Further information can be found on www.Windsurfing4CancerResearch.org and also www.sunrisesunset.ws. Please tell your friends and family, get sponsored, and get on the water. Be part of it!
