TEAM GBR TAKE FIRST HONOURS AT THE CLASICA TORO ANDALUZ, TARIFA

TEAM GBR TAKE FIRST HONOURS AT THE CLASICA TORO ANDALUZ, TARIFA 27-31 MARCH
2002

The Toro Andaluz is One of Europe’s longest standing competitions now in its
22 year. It comprised of Formula Windsurf Racing and Freestyle

Lucy Horwood Wins the Women’s Racing with convincing style.

Lucy was so fast that after two races with the men and beating most of them
there was a decision to race the women separately. I think there were a few
bruised egos among the men being sailed over on the start line.

Lucy used her Gaastra 9.8 Nitro 3 all day on her AHD 95, God knows how quick
she will be when her new AHD 98 arrives.

Dan Ellis Wins the Men’s racing.

Racing in the men’s fleet was really close with the Swedish, Portuguese, and
Spanish champions all present. But it was Dan Ellis who came out on top. Dan
used his Gaastra 12.0 Nitro 3 in all 4 races with winds of 9-18 knots.

The change of board sponsors to Starboard seems to be going to plan so far,
especially as he was only using the Dram and not wood version of the 186X.

The Men’s Freestyle was won by Local Boy Victor Fernandez who won 3 of the
five rounds.

A full report will follow on our return to the UK, with some snaps of the racing
and event.
