Poole Slalom Masterblasters/ UKWA Slalom weekend – Guy Cribb explains…
The UKWA National Slalom weekend has been cancelled in Essex so Poole Slalom have adopted it for their own!
Guy Cribb will be race officer organising some of the legendary downwinders or pursuit racing, all with beach starts. A mix of the countries top professionals and Poole’s very worst windsurfers will all get together for some high adrenalin balls to the wall racing- ONLY if it’s windy.
Forecasts are currently very good for the weekend, so if you fancy joining loads of other windsurfers still struggling with their gybes but happy blasting, order the free pass for the weekend from your partner and start carbo loading.
Full details to be released later this week but expect to enjoy-
Masterblasters- with a beach start and only one gybe.
Downwinders- long distance blasts from one beach to another, poss Sandbanks to Christchurch, very possibly with transport arranged to return you to your car.
Slalom racing- high speed fleet racing neck and neck around a downwind slalom course
Pursuit racing- amateurs and people with disadvantaged kit start first and the pro’s start last, anyone can win- it’s all about overtaking.
Beer drinking- a good day on the water deserves our favourite refreshments
BBQ- after busting your balls slalom sailing, you’d happily eat charcoal
Product prizes- our loyal windsurfing industry in the UK have donated some goodies for you to win- but you dont have to win on the water to win the prizes
No commitment- join in for as much or as little as you like, we all have family and Formula One commitments.
No wind no cry- if there’s no wind, there’s no windsurfing and no event
Fame and fortune- the windsurfing press will feature you in glossy action
If anyone is keen on doing the downwinder from Sandbanks to Christchurch, and would like a lift back, please email me directly- [email protected] (we have special arrangements for this on first come first served basis)
