Lou Mason Reports:
Hayling saw a great turn out last night for the second series of our fun slalom. There were guest appearances from Guy Cribb and Tris Best, and we were all blessed with classic slalom conditions. The westerly winds ranged from 15-25kts and the occasional 30kt gust came through with the dark clouds and rain squalls. A simple course was layed with the outer buoy set where some small swell was kicking in, this producing some hairy moments. At one stage Paul Griffiths came flying into the gybe, completley maxed on a 9.0m, thanks for missing me at warp speed!! Plenty of racing was had by all and there was definitely no need for serious race gear – plenty of people were using FSW’s and 5.8’s or 5.3’s.
Winners for the evening were Alan Emms (RRD cap) and Alan Page (Mistral t-shirt) for both endurance and being near the top of the fleet by the first mark on wave and frestyle kit. Well done.
As the wind switched off to a Northerly flow it left us to de-rig and head off home after some great racing.
A big thanks to Guy for providing some racing buoys and to everyone for joining in. Lets hope the wind continues and I hope to see more of you next time!
Thanks again
Lou
