Animal Windfest – For Pros and Beginners Alike
The tone of the 2009 Poole-based Animal Windfest is approachability and encouragement. Keen to draw young, new, revisiting and established windsurfers to the water, Animal introduces subsidised entry fees for competitors to ensure anyone feels welcome and encouraged to participate.
Gary Willingham, Windfest organiser says “Animal has funded reduced entry fees this year which is perfect when this event is all about attracting every type of watersports fan to have a go.
“It’s not all about top-level competition although this remains well represented; we have worked hard this year to provide something for everyone.”
All entrants to the JP-Neilpryde Slalom – pro, amateur and juniors – save up to £10 on their fee which includes a free event t-shirt, free pasta lunch on two days, entry to the ‘Masterblaster’ fun racing, and a half price Saturday night party ticket.
‘Masterblaster’ fun racing is also up for grabs alone – an easy-going, low cost race created to epitomise the spirit of true entry-level windsurfing. Entry is £20 which includes insurance to cover the day’s racing, and the same entry benefits as above.
Conditions allowing, Expression Sessions will be held with the world’s best, pushing themselves to their limits to wow the crowds on the day. Great Animal prizes will be on offer to those producing the goods out on the water!
UKWA membership is necessary for all competitions except the ‘Masterblaster’.
To encourage young and beginner adult windsurfers, the event is also hosting free taster sessions with qualified instructors from The Watersports Academy.
