21 year old Chris Murray has become the latest signing for Tushingham’s competition team. Chris started windsurfing when he was 12 years old, and within 3 years he had won the UK’s junior wave title. His aim is to join the PWA Wave tour whilst making the time to continue with his quest for the UK wave crown.
Dave Hackford from Tushingham explains that it not that easy finding key riders to sponsor. “Ok, winning competitions is brilliant. It is great for the sailor and it stamps a solid seal of approval on the kit being used. So signing up champions is important, but when trying to find a new team rider in the wave discipline we wanted someone that could become part of the development team, and also involved with wider promotion of the sport. For example by helping shops with demos, and even running clinics for the growing kids scene. After a bit of snooping around on the scene and listening to sailors’ comments one name kept cropping up, that of Chris’s”
Chris Murray, K202 will be sailing on Starboard boards and will start immediately on putting the final touches to the new 2010 Rock range – arriving in March 2010. His immediate plans are to set off for Australia and Maui to train hard for the start of the season.
