The first bus of its kind in the UK will be travelling along the roads of Pembrokeshire’s National Park this summer – purpose built to carry not just surfers, but surfboards too.
Named the Coastal Cruiser, it will join its sister buses, the Celtic Coaster, Poppit Rocket and Strumble Shuttle on the roads of Pembrokeshire. The special new addition to the fleet is hoped to boost usage of the buses which last year transported 16,000 people around the park and took 8,000 cars off the West Wales roads.
Launched by Pembrokeshire Greenways – an initiative that promotes sustainable access to the country – Puffin Buses will carry visitors, dogs, bikes, and now most innovatively, surfboards, around the national park from now until the end of September.
With a ‘hail and ride’ policy, catching the bus couldn’t be easier – all visitors have to do is signal the driver to stop.
The service, which also caters for the disabled, will run until 28th September and new for this year’s summer holidays will be a regular service from Pembroke to Angle, Bosherston and Stackpole.
